Summary/Objective
The Associate Pastor for Children and Youth Ministries is a part-time ministry position responsible for leading, developing and reaching out to children and youth ages birth through twelfth grade. Working with paid staff and volunteers, this person will lead, promote and oversee all aspects of the spiritual formation of children and youth. This position will seek creative, innovative and dynamic means of spiritual discipleship and growth of the ministry through worship services, ministries and regular outreach events.

Essential Functions
Oversee and lead Green Castle’s Children’s Ministry. He/She will:
- Plan and implement programs and activities that equip and foster an environment for children and their families to strengthen daily Christian living and a relationship with Christ.
- Manage the planning and implementation of programmatic events for children.
- Coordinate and execute monthly Children’s Church on 4th Sundays.
- Plan and coordinate Vacation Bible School and Back to School events.
- Supervise ministry coordinators, volunteers, and leaders which includes;
- Ensure church policies and guidelines are followed, such as background checks
- Meet regularly to develop and review program goals and objectives
- Implement a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children and families into GCBC.
- Seek opportunities to collaborate with other children’s ministries and/or programs to effectively utilize resources and increase ministry impact.
- Work with the Executive Pastor on identifying and selecting a Bible based curriculum that is Christ centered, encourages spiritual growth, and aligns with the theology of GCBC.
- Equip families with resources to introduce children to God and help children grow in their relationship to God and Christ, along with their responsibilities to the church and community.
- Support the equipping of parents/grandparents/guardians for ChrisLan parenthood.
Oversee and lead the Youth Ministry. He/She will:
- Plan and implement programs and activities that equip and foster an environment for youth and their families to strengthen daily Christian living and a relationship with Christ.
- Develop and implement youth ministry programming and create a teaching rotation including weekly Wednesday night and Sundays (once a month) and other church-engagement strategies.
- Work with the Executive Pastor on identifying and selecting a Bible-based curriculum that is Christ centered, encourages spiritual growth, and aligns with the theology of Green Castle.
- Supervise and develop ministry coordinators, volunteers, and leaders which includes;

Oversee the planning and implementation for ministries and programming in the Upper Room (Youth Room). He/She will support the development of:
- Weekday, after school programming including possible collaboration with local schools and/or organizations
- Summer programming for children and youth such as camp
Additional duties to include:
- Create an annual budget and provide fiscal management for these areas of ministry.
- Prepare narratives for the annual church report.
- Prayerfully plan and execute special ministry Sundays and retreats (i.e.: Salute to the Graduates, Youth Weekend, Harvest Fest, Egg Hunt, etc.).
- Communicate consistently with parishioners via church database system
- Attend mandatory weekly staff meetings
- Attend worship services on Sunday and Bible Study on Wednesday (when not teaching).
- Collaborate with Sunday School leaders and teachers
- Identify relevant curriculum suitable for children and youth
Competencies
- Sound in the Christian faith.
- Possess a genuine love and commitment to helping children and youth grow spiritually.
- Collaborative attitude with parents, children, youth, church staff and congregation at large.
- Highly developed interpersonal communication and writing skills.
- Proficient technology and social media skills.
- Is a demonstrated creative team player.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience in administration, developing budgets, and controlling expenditures.
Required Education and Experience
- 2-4 years of experience leading a children or youth organization or managing a children’s or youth ministry preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Master of Divinity degree or currently in Seminary preferred
- Background in education as a teacher or administrator is helpful
